Studio website

Simple Multimedia Digital

The studio's own website, rebuilt from a WordPress theme into a Next.js application. The new design was the easy part. The hard part was keeping what the old site had already earned — hundreds of articles, and the search positions attached to their addresses.

  • Next.js
  • Headless WordPress
The simple.web.id homepage: Web design in Bali, engineered simply, over a dotted world map

What the site does

Built around how the business runs.

  • 447 articles read from WordPress over its REST API at build time — articles are still written in WordPress, but no visitor request ever reaches it
  • Every public page prerendered to static HTML
  • A redirect map built from the old sitemaps, Search Console and analytics, which kept 491 of 533 URLs at their original address
  • Two Indonesian service pages kept at the URLs that already rank for Indonesian searches
  • Images stored on Cloudflare R2 and converted to AVIF or WebP on request
  • Released by a pipeline that builds on Linux and checks for broken links and orphaned sitemap URLs before anything goes live

Decisions

Why it was built this way.

  • Headless, not replaced

WordPress stayed where the writing happens. Only the side that visitors read moved to Next.js, so publishing did not have to be relearned to get a faster site.

  • A migration measured before it moved

A redirect map built from the sitemap alone would have dropped 94 URLs that were indexed and taking traffic without ever being listed. Every URL was checked against Search Console and analytics first.
